That's a Wrap
Our house is now empty, which brings us both relief and sadness. We said our farewells and drove away. Wow. While pulling out I had visions of returning someday with our angsty teenage children (yawning and uninterested), and saying to them,"There...is our first house."
Eli was in good spirits and fell asleep shortly after we left, so we decided to continue on to Annapolis to spend the early evening there, taking pictures of our favorite places and absorbing all that we could before we would have to leave it. We only had to ask about five people to take a picture of us before we got one that we honestly could say looked like we were in Annapolis and not some other random city.
We will see friends tomorrow and hopefully head to DC to sit Eli atop the Washington Monument for a photo op and maybe on Lincoln's head, too. Then, we will pack up our things and plunge into our new and uncertain reality...

I am so happy that you guy's will be closer to home, but I have to admit, seeing the pictures of Annapolis made me just a little sad...or nostalgic. The trip to move you guys up there was both beautiful and hectic (the crazy landlady...praying that Jennifer's dad wouldn't take a fall down that tiny, narrow stairway with the chest-or-drawers, WAY too much beer at the pub, Jennifer not looking forward to living over the Subway...smelled so "fresh" in that shoebox apartment...and then the apartment with closet the size of the "Subway" apartment..that was a great closet, Jen!...waking up and looking out of Shaun's window and seeing the courthouse...and no fat people..HA!HA!...coffee on the stoop.) I not only got to see some of this beautiful country and get to know my wonderful sister-in-law (while taking a walk on the side of the road while traffic was held up at a standtill for two hours..we could only take so much of Shaun's guitar playing!),but it was a bonding time with my baby brother that I will cherish always. We talked about this new journey he and Jennifer were about to make together--looking forward to a career, a wedding, children--it all seems like a million years ago and yesterday all at the same time. It was a milestone in his life that I was fortunate to be a part of...he was no longer my baby brother--he was a young man...and a friend. I love you guys so much and look forward to following you on this new journey!!

We are thinking about you! Hope you had a safe, uneventful flight and easy move into the luxurious Bala Woods! We miss you already.
Well, we made it! Apartment is nice, but we are TIRED!! We are hoping to get a good night's sleep and hit the house-hunting trail tomorrow. Fingers are crossed that we find something soon...
